We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator with our own office in Luxor (Standard Tours, tourism licence no. 1082), not an agency reselling another company’s trips. There are no direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Cairo. Most guests connect once in the Gulf or in Istanbul, with Emirates through Dubai, Qatar Airways through Doha, Etihad through Abu Dhabi, Saudia through Jeddah or Riyadh, or Turkish Airlines. Flying time is about 11 hours, so allow 13 to 17 hours from take-off to landing once the connection is added.
Egypt is six hours behind Malaysia in winter and five hours behind in summer. An evening departure from Kuala Lumpur usually lands in Cairo the next morning, so we keep the arrival day light. Our representative meets you inside the arrivals hall with a signboard and helps you through passport control.
Malaysian passport holders are normally admitted to Egypt without a visa for stays of up to 14 days. For a longer stay, such as our 15-day tour, a tourist visa costs US$30 on arrival, or you can apply for an e-visa before you fly. Your passport should be valid for at least six months after your arrival date. Entry rules can change, so check with the Embassy of Egypt in Kuala Lumpur before you book flights.
Egypt is a Muslim-majority country, and halal food is the norm in restaurants, hotels and on Nile cruise ships. A few international hotels serve pork at breakfast, and it is labelled and kept separate. Alcohol is sold in hotels and on ships but is never part of a package.
There is a mosque close to almost every site you will visit. Because your tour is private, your guide can plan each day around prayer times and Friday prayers. Many guests from Malaysia ask us to add Islamic Cairo: Al-Azhar Mosque, the Mosque of Sultan Hassan and the Mosque of Ibn Tulun.
October to April is the best time, with warm days and cool evenings. Malaysia’s year-end school holidays fall in this season, and so do Christmas and New Year, which are the busiest weeks in Egypt. Book those dates several months ahead to get the hotel and ship you want. Summer is hot in Luxor and Aswan, and touring then starts early in the morning.
Egypt is open to visitors during Ramadan, which in 2027 is expected from about 8 February to 9 March. Sites close a little earlier, and evenings after iftar are lively.

The flight takes most of a day each way, so 7 to 10 days in Egypt suits most guests from Malaysia. That covers Cairo, a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, and one more stop. With less time, a private tour of 4 to 6 days still covers the Pyramids and Luxor or Aswan. With 12 to 15 days you can add Abu Simbel and beach days on the Red Sea.

Yes, when a child shares a room with the parents. On tours without domestic flights, children under 6 travel free and children aged 6 to 11 pay half. On packages with domestic flights, children under 3 pay 30%, ages 3 to 5 pay 40% and ages 6 to 11 pay 50% of the adult price.
