Egypt and Jordan Tours

Pyramids, Petra and the Nile in One Journey

Why Egypt and Jordan Work So Well Together

Egypt gives you the Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings and the Nile. Jordan gives you Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea. A direct flight of about 90 minutes between Cairo and Amman connects the two, which is why Egypt and Jordan tours have become the most efficient way to see the ancient Middle East in one holiday instead of two separate trips.

Egypt Best Vacations is a licensed Egyptian tour operator based in Luxor and led by a working Egyptologist. We plan the Egyptian half of your journey ourselves and partner with vetted licensed guides in Jordan, so you deal with one operator, one point of contact and one price covering both countries. Every departure is private, and the regional flight between Amman and Cairo plus domestic flights inside Egypt are included in our combined itineraries.

Egypt and Jordan Tours: Frequently Asked Questions

Everything travelers ask before combining the two countries

How do you get from Egypt to Jordan?

By air. Cairo to Amman is a direct flight of about 90 minutes, operated daily by EgyptAir and Royal Jordanian. Our combined itineraries include this regional flight, and you can begin in either country depending on your international routing. A small number of programs enter Jordan through Aqaba instead.

Do I need a separate visa for Egypt and Jordan?

Yes. They are separate countries and each needs its own entry. For Egypt, most visitors use an e-visa applied for in advance or a visa on arrival, currently 30 US dollars. For Jordan, most visitors use a visa on arrival or buy a Jordan Pass before flying, which covers the visa fee plus entry to Petra and around forty other sites if you stay at least three nights. Requirements vary by nationality, so confirm yours before booking flights.

How many days do you need to see both Egypt and Jordan?

Eight days is the practical minimum for the headline sights of both countries. Ten to fourteen days is the sweet spot, adding a Nile cruise in Egypt plus Wadi Rum and Jerash in Jordan. Our combined packages run from 7 to 21 days.

Are your Egypt and Jordan tours private?

Yes. Every itinerary on this page is a private tour. You travel with your own guide, driver and vehicle in both Egypt and Jordan, on a departure date you choose, with no other travellers joining you. Your group is your own party, whether that is one person or a family of eight.

Does the Egypt and Jordan tour include a Nile cruise?

Most itineraries of ten days and over include a three or four night Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, with guided stops at Kom Ombo and Edfu. Shorter combinations stay on land and concentrate on Cairo, Petra and the Dead Sea. Each tour page lists exactly what is included.

What is the best time to visit Egypt and Jordan?

October to April. Both countries share the same high season, with comfortable daytime temperatures of roughly 20 to 25°C for sightseeing at the Pyramids, Petra and Wadi Rum. Christmas, New Year and Easter book out earliest and carry a seasonal supplement. June to August is very hot in Upper Egypt and the Jordanian desert.

What will I see on an Egypt and Jordan tour?

In Egypt: the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Karnak and Luxor temples, the Valley of the Kings, Philae Temple, and Abu Simbel on longer programs. In Jordan: the Roman city of Jerash, Mount Nebo, Petra, the Wadi Rum desert and the Dead Sea.

Is it safe to travel to Egypt and Jordan?

Both countries have well-established tourism infrastructure and receive large numbers of visitors each year. Travelling with a licensed local operator adds vetted hotels, licensed guides and pre-arranged transfers, which removes most of the friction of independent travel. Check your own government’s current travel advice before you book.

Can I add Jerusalem or the Holy Land to my trip?

Yes. We run an 11-day Cairo, Petra and Jerusalem itinerary and a 15-day Egypt, Jordan and Israel programme that includes a Nile cruise. Entry rules and border crossings for Israel change more often than those for Egypt or Jordan, so we confirm current conditions at the time of booking.

How much does an Egypt and Jordan tour cost?

Combined packages start from 1,580 US dollars per person in a triple room for a seven-day trip, rising above 4,000 dollars for the longest itineraries with a Nile cruise. Jordan-only programmes start from 565 dollars. Prices vary by season, hotel category and group size, and Christmas, New Year and Easter carry a supplement.
