One Week, Many Ways to See It

7 Day Egypt Tour Packages: One Week, Many Ways to Spend It

Seven days is the length most people land on for Egypt, and it is a good instinct. It is long enough to see Cairo, Luxor and Aswan properly, and short enough to take without spending your whole year’s leave.

The question is not whether a week is enough. It is which week. Every itinerary on this page runs seven days, but they are not variations on one trip — a Dahabiya sailing and a White Desert camping trip have almost nothing in common beyond the day count. This page sets them side by side so you can pick the one that matches how you want to travel.

Prices start at $1,015 per person, in groups capped at sixteen travelers and led by a licensed Egyptologist. Every itinerary can also be booked as a private tour.

    Fantastic

Great tour. Our guide Essam was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and articulated the tour well. Offering our group good advice on how to customize our tour based on our interests. He was sure to warn us on all potential scams aswell as unnecessary/non affiliated persons. He also went above by making our restaurant reservations for us.

He was always able to make the tours fun by telling us stories of the past in engaging ways! He was always helpful and gave us honest guidance regarding all local experiences eg. How to behave with street vendors. You felt you could trust him and rely on him fully through the travel!

Related FAQs About 7 Day Trips to Egypt

Most Asked Questions about 7 Day Egypt Tour Packages

Is 7 days enough to visit Egypt?

Yes, for the main sites. A week covers Cairo, Luxor and Aswan at a comfortable pace, which is where the great majority of Egypt’s famous monuments are. It is not enough to add the Red Sea and the desert and Alexandria as well — if you want more than one region beyond the Nile Valley, look at ten days or more.

How much does a 7 day trip to Egypt cost?

Our seven-day packages run from $1,015 to $1,655 per person, depending on the route, your hotel category and the season. The Dahabiya sailing sits at the top of that range because the boats carry so few cabins. Our 2027 solar eclipse itinerary is priced separately at $4,250, reflecting fixed-date demand around the eclipse. International flights are not included in any of these prices.

Are your 7 day Egypt tours private or small group?

Small group by default, private on request. Our standard departures are capped at sixteen travelers, well below the forty-plus coach tours common in Egypt. If you would rather not share the itinerary at all, every trip on this page can be booked privately, with your own guide, driver and vehicle and start times you choose, for an additional charge. Ask for the private rate when you enquire and we will quote both.

What is the best 7 day Egypt itinerary?

It depends on what you want from the week. Cairo, Luxor and Aswan with a Nile cruise is the most popular route and the best all-round first visit. If you have limited energy for full sightseeing days, a Cairo, Luxor and Red Sea itinerary gives you the monuments and then a rest. If you have been to Egypt before, the White Desert or Siwa Oasis routes take you somewhere most visitors never reach.

Do your 7 day trips to Egypt include a Nile cruise?

Several do. On a seven-day trip you can take a standard cruise ship between Luxor and Aswan, a Dahabiya sailboat, or a shorter felucca sail. Routes without a cruise use flights or road transfers between cities instead, which frees up time for more sites on land.

What is the difference between a Nile cruise, a Dahabiya and a felucca?

Size and pace. A Nile cruise ship carries around 60 to 80 cabins with a restaurant, pool and sun deck, and runs on engines to a fixed schedule. A Dahabiya is a sailboat with only four to eight cabins that moves under sail and moors at small sites the big ships cannot reach. A felucca is a small open sailboat used for a few hours or a short overnight, with no cabins. Ships suit comfort, Dahabiyas suit quiet, feluccas suit budget and fresh air.

Does a 7 day Egypt tour include the Grand Egyptian Museum?

Yes, on every itinerary that includes Cairo. Entrance fees and your Egyptologist guide are included. The museum is the largest archaeological museum in the world, so we allow half a day rather than the rushed hour many operators schedule.

Can I visit Abu Simbel on a 7 day trip?

Yes, as an add-on from Aswan. It is a short flight or an early road convoy, and it takes most of a day. On a seven-day itinerary that day has to come from somewhere, so we will usually shorten time in Cairo or Aswan to fit it in. Tell us if Abu Simbel is a priority and we will build the week around it.

When is the best time for a 7 day Egypt trip?

October to April, when daytime temperatures in Luxor and Aswan are comfortable for a full day outdoors. May and September are workable with early starts. June to August is genuinely hot in the Nile Valley, and if you are traveling then, a Red Sea route or a schedule built around early mornings will serve you far better than a full land itinerary.

What is the 2027 solar eclipse tour?

On 2 August 2027, a total solar eclipse crosses Luxor, and totality there lasts longer than almost anywhere else on the path. Our seven-day eclipse itinerary is built around putting you in the right place on the right morning, with the rest of the week covering Cairo and the Luxor monuments. It runs on fixed dates only, hotel space around the eclipse is limited, and it is priced separately from our standard packages.

Are 7 day Egypt tours suitable for families?

Yes. A group capped at sixteen keeps the pace manageable with children, and camel rides, felucca sails and the tombs tend to work well with younger travelers. If you want full control of the daily timetable, including when to break and what to skip, book the itinerary privately instead. Tell us your children’s ages either way and we will flag anything that will not suit them.

Can solo travelers book a 7 day Egypt trip?

Yes, and our small-group departures suit solo travelers well — sixteen people is small enough to get to know everyone over a week. A single supplement applies for hotel and cruise accommodation, since rooms are priced on double occupancy. Any itinerary can also be booked as a fully private tour for an additional charge.

Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Most nationalities do. Many can apply online for an e-visa before traveling, and many can also buy a visa on arrival at Egyptian airports. Requirements change, so check the official Egyptian e-visa portal for your passport before you book flights. We can point you in the right direction, but the application is yours to make.

How much walking is involved?

A moderate amount, mostly on uneven ground. Expect two to four hours on your feet at Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and the Giza plateau, often in sun and with some steps and slopes. Comfortable closed shoes matter more than anything else you pack. If anyone in your party has limited mobility, tell us before booking and we will adjust the sites and the pace.

Can I customize a 7 day Egypt itinerary?

Yes. Any route here can be changed — swap a cruise for a Dahabiya, add Abu Simbel, upgrade the hotels, extend to eight or nine days, or combine two of the routes above. Tell us how you want the week to feel and we will build it rather than fitting you into a fixed package.
