Explore the fabulous contents of the historical Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square in Cairo. Thousands of artifacts from all periods of Egyptian history are displayed on the two floors of the museum.
From the museum to the Citadel of the Sunni Muslim leader Saladin, which was built in 1172 to defend Cairo against the Crusaders. The White Mosque of Mohammed Ali Pasha is a prominent feature of the Citadel. You will finish your tour today at the historical bazaar of Khan El-Khalili, the largest bazaar in the Middle East.
Transfer to Cairo Airport for your connection flight to Amman, for the second leg of your 15-day Egypt Jordan Israel tour. You will be met upon arrival at Amman Airport by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Today you will commence you tour to the ancient city of Gadara (Umm Qais) boasting spectacular views of the Yarmouk Valley, the Golan Heights, and the Sea of Galilee. Gadara is known for its Roman theatres, fountains, underground water wells and more. The site of Gadara was also an important stop during the Ottoman era and was inhabited by locals until 1989.
You will then visit the ruined city of Jerash, Jordan’s largest and most interesting Roman site. The imposing ceremonial gates, colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres all speak to the time when this was an important imperial center. Finally you will stop to see Ajloun Castle, a superb example of Arab-Islamic military architecture which has stood for centuries retaining significance since the time of the Crusades built originally by Salah al Din in 1184/1185. Your tour today commences with a visit to Bethany, the site of John the Baptist’s settlement at Bethany where Jesus was baptized. The Bethany area sites formed part of the early Christian pilgrimage route between Jerusalem, the Jordan River, and Mount Nebo.
You tour will then visit Saint George’s Church, this 19th-century Greek Orthodox church houses a treasure of early Christianity. Found on this site was a stunning mosaic map, crafted in 560 AD. The map represents the oldest map of Palestine in existence it has 157 captions (in Greek) depicting all the major biblical sites of the Middle East, from Egypt to Palestine. Following this you will visit Mount Nebo where Moses is said to have stood and overlooked the Holy Land and where according to Christian tradition Moses was buried. Overnight in Amman.
Today you have a full day exploring Petra known as the Rose Red City. This remarkable city of temples and houses was carved out of the sheer rock some 2,000 years ago by a nomadic people called the Nabataeans. From this stone stronghold, they were able to control the ancient trade routes of Arabia, establishing a kingdom that became known for its exquisite architecture and refined culture. Making your way on foot through a slim fissure in the rock of the ‘Siq’ mountains you will encounter the dramatic treasury plus the Street of Facades, the Court House and the Amphitheatre. If there is time you can even climb the 1,200 steps to the Monastery. Following your tour, you will then be driven back to your hotel in Amman.
After checking out of your hotel, you will drive via the border crossing (Allenby Bridge/King Hussein Border) then drive to Jerusalem via the Judean Desert for the final leg of your 15-day Egypt, Jordan and Israel tour. On arrival at the Holy City, you will be driven directly to your hotel for check in.
You tour today will start with a visit to the Mount of Olives before walking the short distance to the Wailing Wall which is one of the holiest sites in Judaism. This is followed by a visit to the Via Dolorosa through the Stations of the Cross, to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre which is believed to be the site where Jesus was crucified and later buried. You will then transfer to Bethlehem the city where Christianity began, and Jesus was born. You will visit the Church of the Nativity and the Grotto of the Manger. Finally, you will transfer back to Jerusalem and your hotel.
Your tour commences today with a journey to Masada where you will take a cable car ride to the top of the mountain to see the remnants of an ancient fortress built by King Herod. After exploring the ruins you will take drive along the shoreline to the Dead Sea lies in the Jordan Valley at the lowest point on earth. It has attracted visitors from around the Mediterranean Basin for thousands of years. As one of the world’s first health resorts Herod the Great was said to have bathed here. Here you can spend your time sunbathing, relaxing and floating in the water before we transfer you back to your hotel.
