This 6 day Jordan tour package follows the country the way it lies on the map: from the Roman city of Jerash in the north, down past Madaba and Mount Nebo to the Dead Sea, south to Petra and finally into the desert of Wadi Rum. Each day moves you closer to the next highlight, so you spend your time at the sites, not doubling back along the highway.
The tour is private, with your own driver and air-conditioned vehicle throughout, and a licensed local English-speaking guide at Jerash and Petra. You sleep in 4-star hotels in Amman, at the Dead Sea and in Petra, then spend your last night in a traditional Bedouin camp under the Wadi Rum stars.
Two things set this route apart. You get two nights in Petra, so the whole of your Petra day is spent inside the ancient city, with time to climb to the Monastery rather than turning back at the Treasury. And you float in the Dead Sea before the long drive south, when you are fresh, instead of squeezing it in on the way to the airport.
Our representative meets you at Queen Alia International Airport and helps with the arrival formalities. Your driver takes you to your hotel in Amman, about 40 minutes away. The rest of the day is yours.

Drive about 50 minutes north to Jerash, ancient Gerasa. With your guide, enter through Hadrian’s Arch, built for the emperor’s visit in AD 129, and walk through the Oval Plaza, along the colonnaded Cardo and up to the Temple of Artemis. After lunch (not included), head south to Madaba to see the 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land on the floor of St George’s Church, the oldest surviving map of the region. Continue to Mount Nebo, where tradition says Moses saw the Promised Land, for views across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Descend to your Dead Sea hotel in the late afternoon.

Spend the morning at the Dead Sea. The water is so salty that you float without trying; take care to keep it out of your eyes, and try the mineral mud along the shore. Around midday, drive south to Petra, about three hours, and check in to your hotel close to the entrance to the ancient city. The evening is free; Petra by Night runs on selected evenings and can be added.

Start early to walk the Siq, the narrow 1.2-kilometre gorge that opens suddenly onto the Treasury, Al-Khazneh, carved into the rose-red rock in the 1st century AD. Your guide continues with you past the Street of Facades, the Theatre and the Royal Tombs to the colonnaded street at the heart of the Nabataean city. In the afternoon, if you have the energy, climb the roughly 800 rock-cut steps to the Monastery, Ad Deir, one of the largest monuments in Petra. Because you are staying a second night, there is no rush to leave.

Drive about 1½ to 2 hours south to Wadi Rum, the Valley of the Moon, where Lawrence of Arabia was filmed. Climb into a 4×4 for a two-hour jeep tour through red sand dunes, narrow canyons and natural rock bridges, with lunch in the desert. Watch the sunset over the sandstone mountains, then enjoy dinner and a night in a traditional Bedouin camp under some of the clearest skies in the Middle East.

After breakfast at the camp, your driver takes you back to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, about 4 hours, for your flight home.
