This 6 day Egypt solo tour is a small group tour made for people traveling alone: never more than 12 travelers, one Egyptologist guide, and your own single room every night in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor. The price on this page is already the price for one traveler, so there is no single supplement to add at checkout and no room share to arrange.
In six days you stand in front of the Great Pyramids of Giza, walk the Tutankhamun galleries of the Grand Egyptian Museum, fly south to Aswan, reach Abu Simbel near the Sudanese border, and finish in Luxor at the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple. Two domestic flights and one train ride keep the long distances short, and somebody from our team meets you at every airport and station, which matters most when you travel alone.

Our representative waits for you inside the arrivals terminal at Cairo International Airport with a signboard, before passport control, and helps you with the visa on arrival (US$30, paid at the bank desk) and the passport formalities. An air-conditioned vehicle takes you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to rest after the flight.

Your Egyptologist guide collects you after breakfast for the Giza Plateau. You see the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, built about 4,500 years ago, and the Great Sphinx beside Khafre’s valley temple. Going inside the Great Pyramid is possible with an extra ticket bought on the day.
After lunch at a local restaurant you spend the afternoon in the Grand Egyptian Museum, two kilometers from the pyramids. The whole Tutankhamun collection, more than 5,000 objects including the gold mask, is shown here together for the first time.

A morning flight takes you from Cairo to Aswan, where your guide is waiting. You visit the High Dam, finished in 1970, which created Lake Nasser, then the granite quarry of the Unfinished Obelisk, which would have stood about 42 meters tall had it not cracked in the rock. A short motorboat ride brings you to Philae Temple on Agilkia Island, where the temple of Isis was rebuilt stone by stone in the 1970s to save it from the rising water.

An early start for the day trip to Abu Simbel, about 280 kilometers south of Aswan. Ramses II cut two temples into the cliff here in the 13th century BC: the Great Temple with its four seated colossi, and the smaller temple for Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor. Both were sawn into blocks and raised 65 meters between 1964 and 1968 in the rescue operation led by UNESCO.
Back in Aswan your guide sees you onto the afternoon seated train to Luxor, about three hours along the Nile through the farmland of Upper Egypt. Our representative meets you on the platform in Luxor and takes you to your hotel.

You cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, where the standard ticket opens three royal tombs (Tutankhamun, Seti I and Ramses V/VI need extra tickets). Next is the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. Hatshepsut began as regent for Thutmose III and went on to rule as a crowned king in full pharaonic regalia, with his regnal years still running alongside hers. The morning ends at the Colossi of Memnon, the two 18-meter statues of Amenhotep III.
After lunch you visit Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built at about 100 hectares, with the 134 columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall, and then Luxor Temple in the late afternoon light. An evening flight returns you to Cairo. Early risers can add a sunrise hot air balloon ride over Luxor before the touring begins.

Your last morning covers three faiths in one city. You start at the Citadel of Saladin, begun in 1176, and the Alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali inside its walls. In Coptic Cairo you visit the Hanging Church, the Abu Serga Church, built over the crypt where tradition says the Holy Family sheltered, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. You finish with free time in the lanes of Khan el-Khalili before your transfer to Cairo International Airport. Please book an evening flight home and send us the flight time when you book.
