Most two-day trips begin and end in Cairo. Day one takes you to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, then to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which now holds the complete Tutankhamun collection, golden funerary mask included. It has moved there from the old Tahrir museum, so this is where you go to see it. Day two is the one that changes: stay in Cairo for Old Cairo’s churches and the step pyramid at Saqqara, or go somewhere else entirely.

Day two is your choice — stay in Cairo for Old Cairo and Saqqara, drive to Alexandria for the catacombs and the Citadel of Qaitbay, or fly to Luxor for the Valley of the Kings and Karnak.
Not for Egypt as a whole, and we will not pretend otherwise. Two days is enough for Cairo plus one other destination at a sensible pace. It works well as a stopover, as an add-on to a business trip, or either side of a Red Sea holiday or Nile cruise. If your dates are flexible, three or four days makes a noticeable difference to how the trip feels.

Yes, and it is the most popular second day after Cairo itself. The drive is about three hours each way, taking in the Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa, the Citadel of Qaitbay and the Roman amphitheatre before returning to Cairo the same evening.
One night’s accommodation, a licensed Egyptologist guide on both days, all entrance fees to the sites in your itinerary, private air-conditioned transport, domestic flights where the itinerary includes them, meals as listed, and all taxes. Our representative meets you inside the arrivals terminal with a signboard and helps with passport and visa formalities. International flights, the entry visa, drinks, optional extras and tipping are not included.
You choose from six tiers. Egyptian hotel licensing is more generous than the European and American systems, so we publish both labels rather than the flattering one. Bronze is roughly a Western 2.5-star (Egyptian 3-star); Silver about a Western 3-star (Egyptian 4-star); Gold carries Egypt’s “5-star standard” license and compares to a Western 3.5-star; Platinum is Egypt’s “5-star deluxe” license and compares to a Western 4-star; Diamond is roughly a Western 4.5-star; and Elite is a genuine 5-star.
Most nationalities can buy a visa on arrival at Egyptian airports for $30, paid in cash. An e-visa is also available in advance, which is worth considering on a two-day trip where the queue costs you a real fraction of the holiday. Our representative assists with the formalities either way.
The single supplement is 70% of the twin-share rate. Since a two-day itinerary involves only one night, the supplement is small in absolute terms compared with a longer tour.
It depends on whether your itinerary includes a domestic flight. Without flights, as on the Cairo and Cairo–Alexandria packages: under 6 travel free, ages 6 to 11 pay 50%, and 12 and over pay the adult rate. With domestic flights, as on the Cairo–Luxor package: ages 0 to 2 pay 30%, 3 to 5 pay 40%, 6 to 11 pay 50%, and 12 and over pay the adult rate. The difference is the airline ticket, bought at the carrier’s own child rates.

October to April gives the most comfortable sightseeing weather. On a two-day trip the season matters more than usual, because there is no rest day to recover from the heat. If you are coming between June and August we will start you at dawn and build the afternoon around shade and indoor sites.
