Egypt Itinerary 4 Days

Short trips, properly planned

What You Can Realistically See in Four Days

Four days in Egypt means three nights, and that means roughly two full days of sightseeing once you take out arrival and departure. It is not long. But it is genuinely enough for one great pairing — and a well-built Egypt itinerary 4 days long beats a badly built week, because the thing that ruins short trips in Egypt is not the shortage of days. It is the travel between them.

Egypt is bigger than it looks on a map. Cairo to Luxor is around 400 miles; Cairo to Aswan is over 500. Driving either eats an entire day in each direction, which is most of your holiday. Every itinerary below solves this the same way — with a domestic flight — so your days go on the monuments rather than on the road.

Most trips start in Cairo, and for good reason. The Giza plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum sit half an hour apart, and between them they cover the Old Kingdom pyramids and the complete Tutankhamun collection in a single day. From there the question is simply which second place you want: Luxor for temples and royal tombs, Aswan for Abu Simbel and a slower river city, the White Desert or Siwa for something stranger, or Hurghada for the Red Sea.

Everything on this page runs as a private tour. Under seven days we do not sell shared departures at all, so you travel with your own Egyptologist guide, your own driver and your own vehicle, and you set the pace.

Related FAQs About Egypt Itinerary 4 Days

Most Asked Questions about 4 Day Egypt Vacation Packages

Is four days enough time for Egypt?

Enough for one strong pairing, not for the whole country. Four days gives you around two full sightseeing days, which comfortably covers Cairo plus one other destination. It is not enough for Cairo, Luxor and Aswan together, and any operator selling you all three in four days is selling you a lot of airports. If you have the flexibility, five or six days changes the trip considerably.

What is the best four-day Egypt itinerary?

Cairo and Luxor, for most first-time visitors. It gives you the Giza pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum on one day and Karnak, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings on the next — the Old Kingdom and the New Kingdom in a single short trip, which nothing else on this page matches.

Are these tours private or shared?

All private. We do not run shared departures on anything under seven days, so every itinerary here comes with your own Egyptologist guide, your own driver and your own vehicle. It is not an upgrade you pay extra for — it is how these trips are built.

Do the packages include domestic flights?

Where the itinerary needs one, yes — Cairo to Luxor, Cairo to Aswan and the return are included in the package price. The single-city itineraries and the desert trips do not require internal flights. International flights to and from Egypt are never included.

Can I see Abu Simbel in four days?

Yes, on the Cairo, Aswan and Abu Simbel itinerary, which is built around it. Abu Simbel is roughly three hours by road south of Aswan, so it needs a full day and an early start. It does not fit into a Cairo and Luxor trip.

Can I do Cairo and Luxor and Aswan in four days?

Not well. It can be physically arranged, but it means three flights and three hotel check-ins in four days, and you would spend more time in transit than at the monuments. We would rather tell you that than sell it to you. If all three matter, look at our six-day itineraries.

How much does a four-day Egypt trip cost?

From $440 for the White Desert safari to $790 for Cairo and Luxor, per person sharing a triple room in low season. The 2027 eclipse departure is the outlier at $2,700, which reflects fixed dates and extreme demand. Prices vary by season and hotel tier.

Is a four-day trip suitable for families with children?

Yes, and the Cairo and Hurghada itinerary is the easiest of them — one day of sightseeing, then a resort. Children under six travel free on packages without domestic flights; six to eleven pay half the adult rate.

Which airport should I fly into?

Cairo for most of these itineraries. If you are booking Luxor Highlights, flying directly into Luxor saves you a day, and Luxor has good connections through Cairo and some direct European charters in winter.

What is the best time of year for a short Egypt trip?

October to April. On a four-day trip the weather matters more than it does on a longer one, because losing your afternoons to heat costs you a much larger share of the holiday.

Can I extend or customise one of these itineraries?

Yes. Every itinerary here can be lengthened, reordered or built around a fixed arrival date. Tell us what you want to see and how many nights you have and we will build it rather than sell you the nearest fit.

Do you offer a luxury version of these itineraries?

Yes. Each package is available across our hotel tiers, and we publish both the Egyptian star rating and the honest Western equivalent for every property so you know what you are booking. See our luxury tours for the top tiers.
