El-Alamein Military Museum was founded on the 16th of December, 1956, when the late president Gamal Abd El-Nasser ordered its establishment to commemorate Egypt’s fundamental role in one of the most important battles of World War II, Al-Alamein battle, which broke out between the allies and the Axis Powers in October 1942.
Then proceed to the World War II Cemetery of the Commonwealth. This cemetery contains the graves of men who died at all stages of the Western Desert campaigns, brought in from a wide area, but especially those who died in the Battle of El Alamein at the end of October 1942 and in the period immediately before that.
