Day 1 Arrive in Cairo, Egypt

Arrival at Cairo International Airport. Meet and assist by our representative of “Egypt Best Vacations” who will help you through the arrival and visa regulations. Transfer to your hotel for free time and the beginning of your 17-day Egypt travel package.

Day 2Giza Great Pyramids, Sphinx and Saqqara

Your actual 17-day Egypt travel package begins when our professional tour guide picks you up from your hotel to commence your tour to the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and Saqqara.

Today, you will explore the Giza Plateau. Today’s tour includes the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure with the great Sphinx. The only ancient wonder which still exists (Khufu’s pyramid) awaits you. Are you ready to explore it from the inside? (Optional). Today you will learn about the history of the pyramids, how they were built, and why they were built.

Then on to the first pyramid in history of humanity, the Step Pyramid of King Djoser at Saqqara. Saqqara is one of the most important and richest necropolises in Egypt. It was the cemetery of Memphis, the 1st capital city of United Egypt in 3200 BCE.

Transfer back to your hotel.

Day 3Egyptian Museum, Saladin Citadel and Khan El-Khalili

Explore the fabulous contents of the historical Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square in Cairo. Thousands of artifacts from all periods of Egyptian history are displayed on the two floors of the museum.

From the museum to the Citadel of the Sunni Muslim leader Saladin, which was built in 1172 to defend Cairo against the Crusaders. The White Mosque of Mohammed Ali Pasha is a prominent feature of the Citadel. You will finish your tour today at the historical bazaar of Khan El-Khalili, the largest bazaar in the Middle East. 

Transfer back to your hotel.

Day 4Cairo - Alexandria

Today, your 17-day Egypt travel package takes you to the beautiful City of Alexandria, the capital city of Egypt during the Greco-Roman era. Your tour includes the famous Roman Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. The catacombs are huge Egyptian tombs and royal cemeteries with Ptolemaic and Roman influences. The catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa are one the largest Roman burial sites not just in Alexandria but in Egypt. These catacombs started as a private tomb for a wealthy family, then became a public cemetery. The catacombs house more than 300 tombs.

From the catacombs to the Pompey’s Pillar. Many of the ancient historians did not tell us more details about the “Pompey’s Pillar” but about the buildings that stood nearby and have disappeared now. The hill on which the pillar is erected was covered with temples and houses a long time before the Roman era. It was the place of the Citadel of Rhakotis. A temple was dedicated to Osiris-Serapis was built on the mountain.

Then proceed to the Citadel of Qaitbay. The Citadel of Qaitbay in Alexandria is one of the most important fortifications in Egypt. It was constructed by Sultan Al-Ashraf Qaitbay to defend Egypt against the Ottomans/Turks.

Day 5Alexandria - Cairo

Breakfast at the hotel, the enjoy a visit to two of Alexandria’s most iconic landmarks: the Roman Amphitheatre and the Library of Alexandria. These sites offer a fascinating glimpse into the city’s rich cultural heritage and its historical significance as a center of knowledge and entertainment.

The Roman Amphitheatre, also known as Kom El-Dikka, is a well-preserved relic of Alexandria’s Greco-Roman period. Discovered in the 1960s, this ancient structure showcases the city’s historical layers, revealing insights into its past as a vibrant metropolis.

The modern Library of Alexandria, known as the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is a tribute to the ancient library that was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. The new library continues this legacy, serving as a major cultural and educational center.

Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant, then travel back to Cairo.

Day 6Spiritual Cairo

Enjoy a spiritual tour to the Community of Religions in Cairo. This tour includes the famous Coptic Hanging Church. Cairo’s Church of the Saint Virgin Mary was built on the ruins of the Roman Babylon Fortress. Because of its location over the ruins of the fortress, it is known as Al Mo’llaqah Chruch or the “Hanging Chruch.”

Then proceed to the Abu Serga Church. The Church of Abu Serga is located in the modern Old Cairo, in the midst of the ancient Roman fortress of Babylon. The Holy Family drank from a well in the church, so the church is characterized among the other Egyptian Coptic churches.

Then to the Synagogue of Ben Ezra. Ben Ezra Synagogue in Cairo is one of the most important and largest synagogues in Egypt. The Synagogue is named after the great Jewish Rabbi Ezra the Scribe.

Transfer to Cairo Airport to fly to Aswan. Transfer from Aswan Airport to your hotel.

Day 7Abu Simbel Temples

One of the most memorable experiences in your 17 day Egypt travel package is the journey to Abu Simbel Temples from Aswan by road. This excursion offers an opportunity to witness the grandeur of Ramses II’s masterpiece up close. 

Abu Simbel consists of two massive rock temples: the Great Temple of Ramses II and the smaller Temple of Hathor. The Great Temple is renowned for its colossal statues of Ramses II, which stand guard over the entrance. Inside, the intricate carvings and hieroglyphics depict the pharaoh’s victories and divine connections. The Temple of Hathor, dedicated to Queen Nefertari, Ramses II’s wife, is equally impressive. The facade features six statues, three of Ramses and three of Nefertari, showcasing the queen’s significant status. The interior walls are adorned with beautiful reliefs and paintings.

The temples were relocated in a massive UNESCO-led effort to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, a testament to their historical importance. This journey not only highlights the architectural genius of ancient Egypt but also provides a deeper connection to its storied past.

Day 8Aswan Tour - Board your Nile cruise

Check out of your hotel, followed by Aswan tour. Explore the highlights of the beautiful City of Aswan such as the High Dam, one of the great engineering feats of the 1960s. Then proceed to the beautiful Temple of Isis at Philae Island. This temple was built during the Greco-Roman era and, was dedicated to Isis, goddess of Love and Magic in ancient Egypt. You will end your tour at the granite quarry of the Unfinished Obelisk.

Transfer to your Nile cruise ship, where you will spend the next four days of your 17-day Egypt travel package. Overnight in Aswan.

Day 9Aswan - Kom Ombo - Edfu

Enjoy a free morning aboard your river cruise or explore Aswan by your own or join our optional tours. 

Your Nile cruise ship will set sail to Kom Ombo around the lunchtime. Disembark at Kom Ombo to visit the twin Temple of Horus and Sobek. It was built during the Greco-Roman period. It was built over the ruined temple of the New Kingdom. The temple began during the time of Ptolemy V and was completed by the time of Emperor Tiberius. The emperors Domitian, Caracalla, and others added to the temple. So it took about 400 years to finish.

Enjoy a short visit to the Crocodile Museum, before you go back to your Nile cruise ship to set sail to Edfu. Overnight in Edfu.

Day 10Edfu - Esna - Luxor

Before/after breakfast, you will take a horse and carriage to the Temple of Horus in Edfu. This temple is the most intact temple in Egypt and it was built during the Greco-Roman period. The Temple of Edfu is fully inscribed with reliefs and hieroglyphs on its exterior and interior walls.

Take your carriage back to your cruise ship to set sail to Luxor via the Lock of Esna. Upon arrival in Luxor, you will visit the impressive Temple of Karnak and the majestic Temple of Luxor. Both temples were dedicated to the Theban Triad; Amun, Mut and Khonsu. Overnight in Luxor.

Day 11Kings Valley, Hatshepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon

Disembarkation followed by visiting the impressive Valley of the Kings. The Valley of the Kings is one of the most important highlights not only in Luxor but throughout Egypt. The Ancient Egyptians named it (Ta-Iset-Ma’at), which means “the Place of Truth”. The Valley of the Kings is the necropolis of the great Egyptian pharaohs of the 18th to the 20th Dynasty (1550-1080 BCE). Tuthmosis I was the first pharaoh who was buried at the Valley of the Kings while Ramses XI was the last pharaoh who was buried there.

From the Valley of the Kings to the unique Temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut, and then to Colossi of Memnon of Amenhotep III. Transfer to your hotel in Luxor. 

Day 12Queens Valley, Habu Temple and Deir El-Madina

Your 17 day Egypt travel package includes an enriching visit to the Valley of the Queens, Habu Temple, and Deir El-Medina. These sites offer a profound glimpse into the lives and legacies of ancient Egyptian royalty, artisans, and gods.

Valley of the Queens

The Valley of the Queens, located near Luxor, is where the wives of pharaohs and their children were laid to rest. The tombs are renowned for their vibrant wall paintings and well-preserved hieroglyphics. One of the most famous tombs is that of Queen Nefertari, (Private Fee) the beloved wife of Ramses II, known for its stunning artwork depicting the queen’s journey to the afterlife.

Habu Temple

Medinet Habu, commonly known as Habu Temple, is a mortuary temple dedicated to Ramses III. It is one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, offering detailed inscriptions and reliefs depicting the king’s military victories and religious rituals. The grand entrance, towering pylons, and intricate carvings make this temple a highlight of any Egypt tour package.

Deir El-Medina

Deir El-Medina is the ancient village where the artisans who worked on the tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens lived. This site provides unique insights into the daily lives of these skilled workers. The well-preserved houses, chapels, and tombs reveal fascinating details about their work, religious practices, and family life. Notably, the tomb of Sennedjem is a highlight, showcasing exquisite wall paintings.

Day 13Dendera & Abydos Temples

A day trip to Dendera and Abydos from Luxor provides an extraordinary journey into Egypt’s rich spiritual and architectural history. These sites are among the most significant and beautifully preserved in Egypt, offering profound insights into ancient Egyptian religion and art.

Dendera Temple Complex

Located about 60 kilometers north of Luxor, the Dendera Temple Complex is home to the Temple of Hathor, the goddess of love, beauty, and joy. This temple is one of the best-preserved in Egypt, with its impressive columns, detailed carvings, and colorful reliefs. The ceiling of the Hypostyle Hall is particularly stunning, depicting astronomical scenes and zodiac signs. The subterranean crypts and rooftop chapels add to the temple’s allure, offering a fascinating glimpse into ancient rituals and beliefs.

Abydos Temple

Further north from Dendera, about 160 kilometers from Luxor, lies Abydos, one of Egypt’s oldest and most sacred cities. The Temple of Seti I, also known as the Abydos Temple, is renowned for its exquisite bas-reliefs and detailed carvings that are considered some of the finest in Egypt. The temple is dedicated to Osiris, the god of the afterlife, and is famous for the Abydos King List, a chronological list of dynastic pharaohs. The Osireion, an ancient cenotaph, adds to the site’s mystique, symbolizing the tomb of Osiris.

Day 14Fly back to Cairo

Transfer to Luxor Airport to fly back to Cairo for the remaining leg of your 17-day Egypt travel package. Transfer from Cairo Airport to your hotel in Cairo. 

Day 15White Desert Adventure

Depart Cairo early in the morning and drive towards the Bahariya Oasis. Enjoy your lunch and be ready to begin your adventure. Take a 4×4 Jeep to visit the Black Desert, then to the Hez Village to enjoy the natural cold springs. Continue driving to the Crystal Mountain, after that you will arrive at Aqabat. Aqabat is one of the most beautiful areas in the White Desert National Park. Then head to your camping area in the White Desert. Enjoy your dinner and spend your night stargazing. 

Day 16White Desert to Cairo

Enjoy one of your lifetime sunrise, then take your breakfast to be ready to take the 4X4 back to Bahariya Oasis. Then travel back to your hotel in Cairo for the final night of your 17-day Egypt travel package.

Day 17End of your 17-day Egypt travel package
