Day 1 Arrival in Cairo: Your 7 Day Egypt Tour Begins

One of our representatives from Egypt Best Vacations will meet you at Cairo International Airport and help you through the arrival and visa procedures. Then enjoy a comfortable transfer to your hotel, with the rest of the day free to relax and get ready for the first full day of your 7 day Egypt tour package with Nile cruise.

Meals Plan: No Meals Included

Day 2Visit Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and GEM Museum

Your adventure truly begins when our professional tour guide picks you up from your hotel for a day among Egypt’s greatest icons: the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

First, explore the Giza Plateau, home to Khufu’s Great Pyramid, Khafre’s Pyramid, Menkaure’s Pyramid, and the Great Sphinx. Your Egyptologist tour guide will explain how and why the ancient Egyptian kings built their pyramids — and share the mysteries that still surround them today.

Savor your lunch at a local restaurant, then continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Explore the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian treasures in one stunning modern complex. You’ll stand face-to-face with the full Tutankhamun collection and enjoy immersive galleries that bring Egypt’s history to life. Then, head back to your hotel.

Meals Plan: Breakfast & Lunch

Day 3Fly to Aswan: Aswan Tour & Nile Cruise Embarkation

A wonderful Nile cruise vacation awaits! Today your one week Egypt tour shifts south. Transfer from your hotel to Cairo Airport and fly to Aswan to begin your 3-night Nile River cruise from Aswan to Luxor.

Meet your guide just outside the arrival terminal at Aswan Airport to begin your Aswan tour. Your first stop is the High Dam, built in the 1960s to generate hydroelectricity and protect Egypt from floods. Then take a motorboat to the Temple of Philae, built primarily during the Ptolemaic period and one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt — famously relocated stone by stone by UNESCO after the dams were built. End your tour at the granite quarry of the Unfinished Obelisk, where you’ll learn how the ancient Egyptians carved their obelisks and statues of gods and kings. Then, transfer to your Nile cruise ship. Overnight in Aswan.

Optional tour: Nubian Village in Aswan

Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4Aswan - Kom Ombo - Edfu

This morning of your 7 day Egypt itinerary offers a choice: enjoy a free, relaxing morning on board your Nile cruise ship, or join our optional excursion to the phenomenal Temples of Abu Simbel, carved into the mountainside by Ramses II.

Around lunchtime, your cruise sets sail for Kom Ombo. Disembark to visit the unique Twin Temple of Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god. Built during the Greco-Roman period over the ruins of a New Kingdom temple, it was begun under Ptolemy V and completed under Emperor Tiberius, with emperors such as Domitian and Caracalla adding to it — about 400 years of construction in total. End with a short visit to the fascinating Crocodile Museum before the ship sails on to Edfu. Overnight in Edfu.

Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5Edfu - Esna - Luxor East Bank Tour

Before breakfast, take a horse-drawn carriage to Edfu’s Temple of Horus, built during the Greco-Roman era and the most intact temple in Egypt — fully inscribed with reliefs and hieroglyphs on its walls inside and out. Visiting Edfu Temple adds great value to your Egypt tour with Nile cruise.

Return to your ship and sail from Edfu to Luxor via the Lock of Esna. Once in Luxor, explore the mighty Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex in the world. Its vast halls, towering columns, and sacred sanctuaries reveal the greatness of Thebes during the New Kingdom. Then continue to the majestic Temple of Luxor, one of the most beautiful ancient temples in Egypt. Built mainly by Amenhotep III and Ramses II, it was dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship and the glory of ancient Thebes. Overnight in Luxor.

Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 6Visit Kings Valley, Hatshepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon

Disembark from your Nile cruise ship after breakfast to explore Luxor’s west bank. Begin with the magnificent tombs of the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried in tombs cut deep into the mountain to hide them from grave robbers. Of the 65 tombs discovered in the valley, your guide will recommend the best three among those open to visitors.

Then continue to the unique Temple of Hatshepsut, built for the female pharaoh who ruled as sole pharaoh for about 20 years, adopting the full regalia and imagery of a king. Her temple’s grand terraces rise elegantly against the cliffs of Deir El-Bahari. End your west bank tour at the giant Colossi of Memnon, which survive from the vast mortuary temple of Amenhotep III and remain among the most famous landmarks of ancient Thebes. Then transfer to Luxor Airport for your flight back to Cairo, and on to your hotel for the final night of your 7 day Egypt tour with Nile cruise.

Optional tour: Sunrise Hot Air Ballooning Over Luxor

Meals Plan: Breakfast Only

Day 7End of your 7 Day Egypt Tour Package with Nile cruise

Following breakfast at your hotel, visit the Citadel of Saladin, built in 1172 to protect Cairo from the Crusaders. At the citadel, admire the White Mosque of Mohammed Ali Pasha, its most prominent feature. Continue to the Coptic Cairo district to visit the Hanging Church, one of the oldest and most famous Christian churches in Egypt, admired for its beautiful wooden ceiling, historic icons, and deep connection to Egypt’s Coptic heritage.

Continue to Abu Serga Church, also known as the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus. It is especially revered because tradition says the Holy Family stayed in a cave beneath the church during their journey through Egypt. End your Coptic Cairo tour at the Ben Ezra Synagogue, one of the oldest and most famous Jewish landmarks in Old Cairo, known for its rich history and the discovery of the Cairo Geniza, a remarkable collection of ancient Jewish manuscripts.

Culminate your day shopping at the Khan El-Khalili bazaar, one of Cairo’s most famous historic markets — a vibrant maze of narrow lanes, colorful shops, handmade souvenirs, spices, jewelry, and lively cafés. Then wrap up your one week Egypt tour with a transfer to Cairo Airport for your final departure. Feel free to contact us about your next Egyptian adventure.

FAQs

What destinations are included in this tour?

You’ll visit Cairo, Aswan, Kom Ombo, Edfu, and Luxor — combining Egypt’s capital with the classic Nile cruise route through Upper Egypt.

What are the main highlights of this tour?

The tour includes the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Philae Temple, the Temple of Kom Ombo, the Temple of Edfu, Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon.

How many nights are included on the Nile cruise?

The package includes a 3-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor, with sightseeing stops at Kom Ombo and Edfu along the way.

Is the Nile cruise full board?

Yes. Your cruise includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner on board for all three nights. In total, the package includes 13 meals: 6 breakfasts, 4 lunches, and 3 dinners.

Can I visit Abu Simbel on this tour?

Yes, as an optional excursion. On the morning of Day 4, before your cruise sails from Aswan, you can join an optional trip to the phenomenal Abu Simbel Temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari. Contact Egypt Best Vacations when booking to add it to your itinerary.

Does the package include domestic flights?

Yes. Flights from Cairo to Aswan and from Luxor back to Cairo are included, so you spend your time sightseeing rather than on long road journeys.

Is this a private or group tour?

This is a small group tour with a maximum of 16 travelers, giving you a sociable atmosphere while keeping the experience personal. It can also be arranged as a fully private tour on request — contact Egypt Best Vacations for private rates.

Can this tour really start on any day of the week?

Yes. While the 3-night Nile cruise departs Aswan on fixed days each week, this itinerary includes three nights in Cairo, which gives us room to arrange your Cairo sightseeing around any arrival date. We simply adjust the order of your Cairo days so you reach Aswan in time for the cruise — whichever day you land.

What is the difference between this tour and the 6 Day Cairo & Nile Cruise package?

Both include the same wonderful 3-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor. The difference is one extra day in Cairo: here you get a full day for the Giza Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum and a complete final day for the Citadel of Saladin, Coptic Cairo, and Khan El-Khalili — without rushing. If your time is tighter, the Egypt in 6 Days: Cairo & Nile Cruise package covers the essentials in one less day. Note that this tour runs as a small group (max 16 people) and can start any day of the week, while the 6-day version is a fully private tour with fixed departure days.

Are guided tours included?

Yes. Professional licensed Egyptologist guides accompany you during all sightseeing in Cairo, Aswan, Kom Ombo, Edfu, and Luxor.

What type of accommodation is included?

The package includes 3 nights in Cairo on a bed-and-breakfast basis and 3 nights on a full-board Nile cruise. Accommodation comes in two tiers: Gold (5-star standard hotels and cruise ships) and Platinum (5-star deluxe hotels and cruise ships).

Are entrance fees included in the package?

Yes. Entrance fees to all attractions listed in the itinerary are included. Special tickets — such as entering the Great Pyramid, the tombs of Seti I and Ramses V, or Tutankhamun’s tomb — are available at an additional fee.

Is Wi-Fi available onboard the Nile cruise?

Most Nile cruise ships offer Wi-Fi in public areas, though the connection can be limited while sailing. Consider it a good excuse to enjoy the river views instead.

How much walking is involved?

The tour involves moderate walking at temples, tombs, and museums, including some uneven ground and steps. Most travelers with an average fitness level enjoy it comfortably.

Is this tour suitable for families and seniors?

Yes. The pacing is balanced, transport is air-conditioned and comfortable, and the cruise days naturally build in rest time — making it well suited to families with children, couples, solo travelers, and seniors.

Is this tour suitable for first-time visitors to Egypt?

Absolutely. This is the classic first-timer’s route: Cairo’s pyramids and museums plus the Nile cruise through Upper Egypt cover Egypt’s most famous attractions in a single week.

What is the best travel season?

The most comfortable months are October to April, when the weather is mild and ideal for sightseeing. Summer (May to August) is very hot in Luxor and Aswan, though the cruise’s air-conditioned comfort and pool make it manageable for travelers who prefer fewer crowds.

When should I book?

The earlier the better, especially for the high season from October to April — Nile cruise cabins and domestic flights fill quickly. For travel around Christmas, New Year, or Easter, booking several months ahead is strongly recommended.

Do I need a visa to visit Egypt?

Most travelers can obtain a visa on arrival at Cairo Airport or apply for an e-visa online before departure. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, we strongly recommend it. With international flights, two domestic flights, and a cruise, travel insurance protects you against unforeseen cancellations, delays, medical issues, or lost luggage. Egypt Best Vacations doesn’t sell insurance, so please arrange it before departure.

What should I pack?

Comfortable walking shoes above all — you’ll explore temples, tombs, and museums. Bring lightweight, breathable clothing, a hat, high-SPF sunscreen, and sunglasses, plus a light jacket for cooler evenings on the river. Some cruises host a semi-formal dinner night, so one smart-casual outfit is nice to have, along with a small day bag for excursions.

Is it safe to travel to Egypt?

Yes, it is generally safe. Tourist sites and the Nile cruise route between Aswan and Luxor are well secured and routinely patrolled by tourist police. The main things to watch for are common travel scams, such as overcharging for taxi or camel rides at the pyramids.

Can I extend my stay after the tour?

Yes. Egypt Best Vacations can add extra nights in Cairo, a Red Sea beach extension in Hurghada or Sharm El-Sheikh, or an Alexandria day trip — just ask when booking.
