El-Alamein Military Museum was founded on the 16th of December, 1956, when the late president Gamal Abd El-Nasser ordered its establishment to commemorate Egypt’s fundamental role in one of the most important battles of World War II, Al-Alamein battle. Then proceed to the World War II Cemetery of the Commonwealth. This cemetery contains the graves of men who died at all stages of the Western Desert campaigns, brought in from a wide area, but especially those who died in the Battle of El Alamein at the end of October 1942 and in the period immediately before that.
Continue the Italian Memorial, or ‘Sacrario italiano a El Alamein’. The memorial is a white octagonal monument to the 4,800 Italian soldiers who died in the 1942 Battle of El Alamein and the approximately 38,000 missing. End your tour at the German Tombs.
