Different ways to spend 18 days in Egypt

Best 18 Day Egypt Travel Packages for 2026/2027/2028

Our 18 day Egypt travel packages are the only itineraries on this site that put you on two different waters: three nights cruising Lake Nasser from Abu Simbel to Aswan through the rescued temples of Nubia, then the Nile itself from Aswan to Luxor. Around that core sit six nights in Cairo, a night in Alexandria, the Valley of the Kings, and four all-inclusive nights on the Red Sea in Hurghada.

All three packages share the same first week. You visit the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Citadel of Saladin and Coptic Cairo, the Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa and Qaitbay’s fort in Alexandria, and the Step Pyramid at Saqqara with the Bent and Red Pyramids of Dahshur, where the Fourth Dynasty worked out how to build a true pyramid. You then fly to Abu Simbel to board a Lake Nasser cruise: Ramesses II’s Great Temple, Qasr Ibrim on its drowned cliff, Amada, Wadi es-Sebua, Dakka and Kalabsha, temples most visitors to Egypt never see.

What separates the three is how you travel the Nile from Aswan to Luxor. Choose a full-service cruise ship with Edfu and Kom Ombo on the way, a sailing dahabiya calling at Kom Ombo and Esna with an island night under the stars, or a traditional felucca with two nights on deck and a morning at the Daraw camel market. Every package then finishes with the Luxor West Bank, four lazy nights in Hurghada and a final night in Cairo.

    Fantastic

Great tour. Our guide Essam was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and articulated the tour well. Offering our group good advice on how to customize our tour based on our interests. He was sure to warn us on all potential scams aswell as unnecessary/non affiliated persons. He also went above by making our restaurant reservations for us.

Related FAQs About 18 Day Egypt Travel Packages

Most Asked Questions about 18 Day Egypt Vacation Packages

What do all three 18 day Egypt travel packages have in common?

The same first week and the same last week. Six nights in Cairo with the Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Old Cairo, Saqqara, Memphis and Dahshur; one night in Alexandria; a flight to Abu Simbel and a 3-night Lake Nasser cruise to Aswan; the Luxor West Bank; four all-inclusive nights in Hurghada; and a final night in Cairo. Only the Nile leg between Aswan and Luxor changes.

What is the difference between the cruise ship, dahabiya and felucca options?

The cruise ship has full facilities, en suite cabins, a pool and a sun deck, and calls at Kom Ombo and Edfu. The dahabiya is a small sailing boat with eight to ten cabins, calling at Kom Ombo and Esna and mooring at an island overnight. The felucca is an open sailing boat: you sleep on deck for two nights, visit Philae and the Daraw camel market, and continue to Luxor by road with a hotel night there. Price rises from felucca to ship to dahabiya.

Is a Lake Nasser cruise included in every package?

Yes. All three include a 3-night Lake Nasser cruise from Abu Simbel to Aswan on a 5-star standard ship, visiting Abu Simbel, Qasr Ibrim, Amada, the tomb of Pennut, Wadi es-Sebua, Dakka, Maharraqa and the New Kalabsha temples. The Lake Nasser cruise is what makes the 18-day packages different from our 15– and 16-day tours.

Do the 18 day packages include Alexandria?

Yes, all three. You spend one night in Alexandria and visit the Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa, Pompey’s Pillar, the Citadel of Qaitbay, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Roman theatre at Kom El-Dikka.

Do the packages include a desert trip such as the White Desert or Siwa?

No. The 18-day packages combine Cairo, Alexandria, Lake Nasser, the Nile and the Red Sea. If you want the White Desert or Siwa as well, look at our 19-day packages, or ask us to extend an 18-day itinerary.

Which Red Sea resort is used?

Hurghada, for four nights on an all-inclusive basis with drinks included at standard and deluxe resorts. Transfer from Luxor to Hurghada is by road, about four hours; the return to Cairo is by air.

Are these small group or private tours?

Small group tours with a maximum of 16 travellers, guided by a licensed Egyptologist. Any of the three can be run as a private tour on request; ask for a private quote when you enquire.

What is the accommodation standard?

5-star standard hotels in Cairo, Alexandria and Hurghada, and a 5-star standard ship on Lake Nasser. Upgrades to 5-star deluxe or luxury hotels are available on request. Twin, double, triple and single rooms are available in hotels and on the cruise ships; the dahabiya offers twin and single cabins only.

Are domestic flights included?

Yes. Cairo to Abu Simbel at the start of the Lake Nasser cruise, and Hurghada back to Cairo at the end, are both included. Everything else is by cruise, by road or by sail.

How many meals are included?

40 meals on the cruise ship and dahabiya packages, 39 on the felucca package: breakfast every day, full board on Lake Nasser and on the Nile, all-inclusive in Hurghada, and lunches on the Cairo and Alexandria sightseeing days.

When is the best time for an 18 day Egypt trip?

October to April for comfortable temperatures at the temples and on deck. Lake Nasser is very hot from June to August; if you travel in summer, choose the cruise ship rather than the felucca for the Nile leg. The Daraw camel market on the felucca package runs on Saturdays and Sundays, so we set that departure date accordingly.

Do I need a visa, and does 18 days fit the allowance?

Most nationalities can buy a 30-day tourist visa on arrival for US$30, or apply online in advance. An 18-day stay is well within the limit.

How much does an 18 day Egypt travel package cost?

From $2,970 per person for the felucca package, $3,220 for the cruise ship package and $3,680 for the dahabiya package, per person in a twin room at the low-season rate. Single supplements apply, and prices rise over Christmas, New Year and Easter.

How do I book?

Send the enquiry form on the package page with your dates, group size and preferred Nile option. We reply within one hour with a day-by-day quote, and a 25–50% deposit by secure payment link confirms your places.
