FAQs

How far is El Alamein from the Giza Pyramids?

El Alamein is about 260 kilometers (160 miles) from the Giza Pyramids — roughly a 3-hour drive by private air-conditioned vehicle along the modern desert road. Egypt Best Vacations includes door-to-door pickup from your hotel or residence in El Alamein, New Alamein City, or the North Coast resorts, so the journey is comfortable, direct, and fully managed from start to finish.

Can I visit the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum in one day from El Alamein?

Yes. With an early start, one day is enough to experience both the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum from El Alamein. Our private day tour departs around 5:30 AM, giving you about three hours at the Giza Plateau and the Sphinx, a relaxed lunch, and around three hours inside the GEM before the return drive. You’ll be back at your North Coast hotel the same evening — no overnight stay in Cairo required.

What time does the tour start and how long does it last?

The tour starts with pickup around 5:30 AM from your El Alamein or North Coast accommodation and lasts approximately 14 hours, returning around 7:30 PM. The early start beats the Cairo traffic and the midday heat at the Giza Plateau, and it protects unhurried time at both the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Exact pickup time is confirmed the day before, based on your location along the North Coast.

Is pickup available from Marassi and other North Coast resorts?

Yes. We provide private pickup and drop-off from hotels, resorts, and residences across El Alamein, New Alamein City, and the North Coast — including Marassi, Marina El Alamein, and the surrounding Sahel compounds. Your exact pickup point and time are confirmed with you directly after booking. Because this is a fully private tour, the vehicle, driver, and Egyptologist guide are exclusively yours for the day.

What is included in the tour price?

The tour includes private round-trip transfers from El Alamein in a modern air-conditioned vehicle, a licensed English-speaking Egyptologist guide, entrance fees to the Giza Pyramids plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum, lunch at a quality local restaurant, and bottled water throughout the day. Not included: optional activities such as entering inside a pyramid or a camel ride, gratuities, and personal extras. Everything is confirmed clearly in writing before you book.

Is the Grand Egyptian Museum ticket included?

Yes. Your entrance ticket to the Grand Egyptian Museum’s main galleries — including the complete Tutankhamun collection and the Grand Staircase — is included in the tour price. Your Egyptologist accompanies you through the highlights, from the colossal 83-ton statue of Ramses II in the atrium to the treasures of the boy king. Special-access experiences inside the GEM, where available, can be arranged on request at an additional cost.

Is this a private or group tour?

This is a fully private tour. You travel with your own Egyptologist guide, driver, and air-conditioned vehicle — no strangers, no fixed group pace, and no waiting for others. The itinerary flexes around you: spend longer at the Sphinx, add a photo stop, or linger in the Tutankhamun galleries. Private touring is the Egypt Best Vacations standard across all our day tours and packages.

Is this tour suitable for children and seniors?

Yes. The tour suits all ages: the vehicle is comfortable for the 3-hour drive, the pace is set entirely by your family, and both the Giza Plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum are accessible, with the GEM offering modern, air-conditioned galleries, elevators, and rest areas. For seniors or guests with limited mobility, tell us in advance and we’ll adapt the walking route at the plateau and arrange the most comfortable options throughout the day.

Can I add a camel ride at the Pyramids?

Yes. A camel ride across the Giza sands can be added during your time at the plateau — just tell your guide on the day, or request it when booking. Your Egyptologist arranges it with a trusted handler at a fair price, so you avoid any haggling. It’s an optional extra and not included in the tour price, and the panoramic viewpoint provides the classic camel-and-pyramids photo backdrop.

What should I wear and bring on this tour?

Wear light, comfortable clothing and closed walking shoes, and bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen — the Giza Plateau is open desert. In winter (December–February), add a light jacket for the early-morning start. Bring your passport for entry tickets, some cash for tips and souvenirs, and your camera or phone fully charged. Bottled water is provided in the vehicle throughout the day.

Can I customize this tour from El Alamein?

Yes. As a tailor-made tour operator, we can adapt this itinerary to your wishes: add Saqqara’s Step Pyramid or Memphis, include Khan El Khalili bazaar, swap lunch venues, or extend into an overnight Cairo stay with the Sound and Light Show at the pyramids. Since the tour is private, adjustments are easy — just tell us what you’d like when booking and we’ll build the day around you.

How do I book this tour, and what is the cancellation policy?

Booking is simple: reserve online or contact Egypt Best Vacations directly, confirm your pickup location in El Alamein or the North Coast, and receive written confirmation with all details. A small deposit secures your date, with the balance payable before or on the day of the tour. Free cancellation is available up to 48 hours before departure. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator and TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice award winner, we confirm every inclusion in writing.
