This 8 day Egypt tour includes accommodation in Cairo, a 3-night full-board Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor, one night of White Desert camping with all equipment provided, domestic flights, private air-conditioned transfers, entrance fees to every site on the itinerary, and your own licensed Egyptologist guide throughout. The desert night comes with a Bedouin barbecue dinner under the stars. International flights and Egypt entry visa are not included, but we guide you through the visa process step by step.
White Desert camping is comfortable but authentically wild: we set up quality tents with mattresses, sleeping bags, and warm camel blankets, and your Bedouin crew cooks a fresh barbecue dinner as the sun sets over the chalk formations. There are no fixed showers or flush toilets in the open desert — a portable camp toilet is provided, and on the drive back we can stop at a Bahariya Oasis hotel for a hot shower before returning to Cairo. Most guests say the star-filled night sky more than makes up for one night of simple living.
No special fitness is required — this tour suits anyone with average mobility. The sites involve walking on uneven ground and some stairs (the Valley of the Kings tombs have sloped corridors), and the desert leg involves a roughly 4-hour drive from Cairo to Bahariya Oasis followed by a 4×4 ride over sand. Because the tour is private, your guide sets the pace around you, adds rest stops whenever you like, and can adjust any day that feels too full.
Sailing from Aswan to Luxor, you visit Philae Temple and the High Dam in Aswan, the crocodile-god temple of Kom Ombo and the remarkably preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu en route, then Luxor’s west and east banks: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, and the vast Karnak Temple complex. All visits are guided privately by your Egyptologist, with entrance fees included.
October to April is the best time, with warm sunny days ideal for both temple touring and desert camping. One thing to know: White Desert nights get genuinely cold in winter — often near 5°C in December and January — so pack warm layers for the camping night (we provide thick blankets and sleeping bags). Summer departures are possible too; we simply schedule desert and temple visits for early morning and keep the hottest hours for your air-conditioned cruise ship.
Pricing depends on your travel season, hotel category, and cruise ship, with private tours for two typically starting from around USD 1,400 per person including domestic flights, the 3-night full-board Nile cruise, White Desert camping with equipment, private guides, transfers, and entrance fees. Families and small groups receive discounted per-person rates. Request a free quote with your dates and we’ll send an exact price within 24 hours — as a local Luxor-based operator, you book direct at Egyptian prices with no overseas markup.
Yes, the White Desert is a protected national park and one of Egypt’s most popular safari destinations, visited year-round by travelers from all over the world. All trips run with required permits, experienced local Bedouin drivers who know the terrain intimately, and 4×4 vehicles maintained for desert travel. You’re never alone out there — your guide and camp crew stay with you from the moment you leave Cairo until you’re back.
Absolutely — every Egypt Best Vacations tour is a tailor-made, so this itinerary is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Popular additions include an Abu Simbel excursion from Aswan, a sunrise hot air balloon ride over Luxor, an extra night in Cairo for Islamic and Coptic Cairo, or swapping the camping night for a Bahariya Oasis lodge if you prefer a bed to a tent. Tell us your dates and interests and we’ll shape the trip around you.
Yes, families love this itinerary — children are usually captivated by the Pyramids, the cruise pool, and especially the night of desert camping, which feels like a real adventure. Keep in mind the Cairo-to-Bahariya drive takes about 4 hours each way, so we build in rest stops and snacks for younger travelers. Children typically receive discounted rates, and because the tour is private, nap times, early dinners, and slower mornings are never a problem.
