Overnight in Cairo
You’re going to spend the next four days of your 6 day Exquisite Egypt Tour from Australia and New Zealand on board a Nile River cruise. So, you will take a transfer to Cairo Airport to fly to Aswan to begin your 3-night Nile River cruise from Aswan to Luxor.
Meet your guide just outside the arrival terminal at Aswan Airport to commence your tour. Your first stop will be at the High Dam, a dam built in the 1960s, to generate hydroelectricity and to stop floods. Then to explore the Temple of Philae, which was built primarily during the Ptolemaic period and is one of the most incredible temples in Egypt. It was due to the construction of the two dams in Aswan that UNESCO had to relocate the temple. End your journey at the granite quarry of the Unfinished Obelisk.

Your Nile cruise ship will set sail down to Kom Ombo around lunchtime. Stop at Kom Ombo to visit the twin temple of the two gods, Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god. At the end of your tour, you will have a short visit to the Crocodile Museum, then the cruise ship will proceed down to Edfu, where it will dock. Overnight in Edfu.
After or before breakfast, you will take a horse-drawn carriage to visit Edfu’s Temple of Horus. This temple was built during the Greco-Roman era and is the most intact temple in Egypt. Afterward the cruise ship will sail from Edfu to Luxor via the Lock of Esna.
Once you reach Luxor, you will visit the largest temple in Egypt, the Temple of Karnak. This temple was built by several pharaohs in more than 1700 years. Then proceed to the majestic Temple of Luxor, which is connected to Karnak by the ceremonial avenue of the Sphinxes which was recently restored.
