Enjoy a full-day tour to the very famous Petra ruins. Inhabited since prehistoric times, this Nabataean caravan-city, situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt, and Syria-Phoenicia. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture.

Today you will learn about the history of the pyramids, how they were constructed, and why they were constructed. Then on to the first pyramid in history of mankind, the Step Pyramid of King Djoser at Saqqara. Saqqara is one of the most important and richest necropolises in Egypt. It was the cemetery of Memphis, the 1st capital city of United Egypt in 3200 BCE.

You will spend the next five days of your Magnificent Egypt & Jordan Tour in 12 days onboard a River Nile cruise. So, take a transfer to Cairo Airport to fly to Luxor to begin your 4-night Nile River cruise from Luxor to Aswan.
Meet your guide just outside the arrival terminal at Luxor Airport to commence your tour. Explore the largest temple in the world, the Temple of Karnak, and the majestic Temple of Luxor. Both temples were dedicated to the Theban Triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu.
Transfer to your Nile cruise ship. Overnight in Luxor.
Today, you will visit the glorious tombs of the Valley of the Kings. The pharaohs during the New Kingdom ceased building pyramids and cut their tombs deep into the mountain trying to hide them from grave robbers. There are 65 tombs at the Valley of the Kings, your guide will recommend the best three tombs of the open ones to visit.
From the glorious Valley of the Kings to the unique temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut who served as a solo pharaoh for about 20 years. You will end your trip at the giant Colossi of Memnon which survives from the Temple of pharaoh Amenhotep III.

Take a horse and carriage to visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu. This temple is the most intact temple in Egypt and it was built during the Greco-Roman period. The Temple of Edfu is fully inscribed with reliefs and hieroglyphs on its exterior and interior walls.
Take your carriage back to your Nile cruise ship to set sail to Kom Ombo. Visit the twin temple of Sobek, the Crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god. Then proceed to the Crocodile Museum in the vicinity of the temple. After the tour, the ship will sail up to Aswan where it moors for the next two days.
Welcome to the lovely City of Aswan. Your tour includes the largest engineering project in the 1960s, the High Dam, then to granite quarry of the Unfinished Obelisk, and the amazing Temple of Philae.
