Grand Egyptian Museum, Saqqara & Memphis Tour

Egypt Best Vacations’ full-day private tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off from Cairo or Giza, all transfers in a private air-conditioned vehicle, entrance fees to Saqqara, Memphis, and the Grand Egyptian Museum, lunch at a local restaurant, and a licensed Egyptologist guide for the entire day. Gratuities and optional extras such as entry inside the Step Pyramid are excluded.

The tour lasts about 8–9 hours door to door. You visit Saqqara and Memphis in the morning while the desert sites are cooler, stop for lunch, and spend the afternoon inside the air-conditioned Grand Egyptian Museum — roughly 3 guided hours among its highlights.

Saqqara is home to the Step Pyramid of Djoser — Egypt’s oldest pyramid and the world’s first monumental stone building, constructed around 2650 BC by the architect Imhotep. With your Egyptologist you explore the surrounding necropolis of Egypt’s ancient capital where pyramid-building itself was invented, a generation before Giza. You will also see the Pyramid of Unas if time permits. 

Memphis, today the open-air museum at Mit Rahina, was Egypt’s first capital and the seat of the pharaohs for a millennium. Its highlights are the fallen colossus of Ramses II — displayed lying at full monumental length — and the alabaster sphinx, one of the largest ever found. Your Egyptologist brings the vanished city around them back to life.

Because together they tell Egypt’s whole story in the right order: Saqqara is where monumental Egypt began, Memphis is the capital that ruled it, and the Grand Egyptian Museum is where its greatest treasures now live. Seeing the sites in the morning and the museum in the afternoon means the artifacts you meet at the GEM — including Tutankhamun’s collection and the Ramses II colossus — connect directly to the places you stood hours earlier.

Yes — the tour is fully private. Your group travels alone in its own air-conditioned vehicle with a licensed Egyptologist guide dedicated to you for the whole day, so the pace at each site adjusts to your interests. Group size runs from 1 to 16 people.
