Start your journey with a visit to the impressive Aswan High Dam. One of the greatest engineering achievements of the twentieth century. The dam was built to control the Nile floods and provide water and electricity across Egypt.

Continue to the beautiful Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and wonderfully located on an island in the Nile River. Often called the “Pearl of Egypt,” the temple is reached by a relaxing motorboat ride. Afterward, visit the fascinating Unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarry, where you can discover how massive obelisks were carved during ancient Egyptian times.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to your hotel for the first overnight stay of your Aswan highlights in 5 days tour.

Day 2Abu Simbel Temples

Today, you will travel with your tour guide to explore the phenomenal Abu Simbel Temples. One of the greatest highlights of your 5 days in Aswan itinerary. Enjoy a scenic drive of about 3.5 hours south of Aswan to discover these breathtaking rock-cut temples. The temples of Abu Simbel are among the most celebrated monuments of ancient Egypt. The Great Temple was built by Pharaoh Ramses II, while the smaller temple was dedicated to his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari. Carved directly into the mountainside, the temples showcase the artistic brilliance and power of ancient Egyptian civilization.

Following the construction of the Aswan High Dam, the temples were threatened by the rising waters of Lake Nasser. In an extraordinary international rescue mission, the temples were carefully relocated to higher ground to preserve them for future generations.

After your visit, transfer back to your hotel in Aswan for a relaxing evening.

Meals Plan: Breakfast Only

Day 3Nobles Tombs, St. Simeon Monastery and Nubian Museum

Today, your Aswan vacation package will ascend Aswan hill to visit the tombs of the Nobles at Qubbet Al-Hawa. The high cliffs opposite Aswan, just north of Kitchener’s Island, are honeycombed with the tombs of the governors, the Keepers of the Gate of the South, and other dignitaries of ancient Elephantine Island. The tombs, known as the Tombs of the Nobles. Six decorated tombs are currently open to the public.

Then proceed to the 7th-century Monastery of St. Simeon. The fortress-like 7th-century Monastery of St Simeon was first dedicated to the local saint Anba Hedra, who renounced the world on his wedding day. It was rebuilt in the 10th century and dedicated to St Simeon. From here the monks travelled into Nubia, in the hope of converting the Nubians to Christianity.

End your tour at the fabulous Nubian Museum. The Nubian Museum was founded in response to the international salvage campaign of the ancient Nubian monuments initiated by UNESCO upon the request of the Egyptian government in 1960. The museum has three floors, exhibiting thousands of artefacts that shed light on the development of Egyptian and Nubian geographical, social, and cultural civilization. Then, return back to your hotel.

Meals Plan: Breakfast Only

Day 4Kom Ombo & Edfu Temples

Your Aswan sightseeing tour continues to Kom Ombo and Edfu. After breakfast at the hotel you will head to Kom Ombo. Here, you will visit the twin Temple of Horus and Sobek and the Crocodile Museum. The temple is dedicated to the two triads of Horus and Sobek. The right part of the temple is dedicated to Sobek (Crocodile deity), his consort Hathor and their son Khonsu.  The left part of the temple is dedicated to Horus the Elder (Heru-ur or Haroeris), his consort Tasenetnofret (“the good sister”), and their son Panebtawy (the Lord of the Two Lands).

Then proceed to the most intact temple in Egypt, the Temple of Horus in Edfu. The Temple of Horus in Edfu is the most intact temple in Egypt and one of the most beautiful temples built during the Greco-Roman period. The Temple of Edfu is fully inscribed with reliefs and hieroglyphs on its exterior and interior walls. Then, head back to your hotel in Aswan for the final night of your 5 day Egypt Aswan tour.

The island is covered with fascinating inscriptions and royal cartouches carved onto massive granite rocks by ancient kings and officials.

Continue to Elephantine Island, home to the ancient city of Abu. In ancient Egyptian times, the island was associated with both elephants and ivory, reflecting its important role in the ivory trade and trade routes between Egypt and Nubia.
