Enjoy a scenic drive of about 3.5 hours south of Aswan to discover these breathtaking rock-cut temples. The temples of Abu Simbel are among the most celebrated monuments of ancient Egypt. The Great Temple was built by Pharaoh Ramses II, while the smaller temple was dedicated to his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari. Carved directly into the mountainside, the temples showcase the artistic brilliance and power of ancient Egyptian civilization.
Following the construction of the Aswan High Dam, the temples were threatened by the rising waters of Lake Nasser. In an extraordinary international rescue mission, the temples were carefully relocated to higher ground to preserve them for future generations.

Today, your Aswan vacation package will ascend Aswan hill to visit the tombs of the Nobles at Qubbet Al-Hawa. The high cliffs opposite Aswan, just north of Kitchener’s Island, are honeycombed with the tombs of the governors, the Keepers of the Gate of the South, and other dignitaries of ancient Elephantine Island. The temple is dedicated to the two triads of Horus and Sobek. The right part of the temple is dedicated to Sobek (Crocodile deity), his consort Hathor and their son Khonsu. The left part of the temple is dedicated to Horus the Elder (Heru-ur or Haroeris), his consort Tasenetnofret (“the good sister”), and their son Panebtawy (the Lord of the Two Lands).
Then proceed to the most intact temple in Egypt, the Temple of Horus in Edfu.
