Overview

Four nights, two completely different Egypts. This Cairo and Hurghada New Year tour opens with a private day among the Giza pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, then puts you on a short domestic flight to the Red Sea for three nights of sun, reef and a gala dinner by the water on the thirty-first.

Everything on the Cairo side is private. Your own Egyptologist guide, your own driver, your own air-conditioned vehicle, and no group to wait for at the gate. Hurghada is deliberately left open: your resort, your pace, with snorkelling trips, a desert evening or a long day to Luxor available if you want structure, and nothing scheduled if you don’t.

Domestic flights run in both directions and are included in the price, as is the New Year’s Eve gala dinner. We never bill the gala as a supplement — it is in the rate you are quoted.

Tour Highlights

  • Stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the only one of the classical Seven Wonders still standing
  • Meet the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple of Khafre on the same private morning
  • Walk the Grand Staircase at the Grand Egyptian Museum, ending at the window that frames the pyramids
  • See the complete Tutankhamun assemblage displayed together for the first time — over five thousand objects
  • Fly to the Red Sea and wake up to three unstructured days in Hurghada
  • Ring in the new year at your resort's gala dinner, included in every tier we quote
  • Domestic flights both ways included, with a representative meeting you inside every terminal

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Cairo, Egypt

Our representative meets you inside the arrivals hall at Cairo International Airport, holding an Egypt Best Vacations signboard, and stays with you through passport control and the visa formalities. From there it is a private transfer to your hotel, where check-in is already arranged.

The rest of the day is yours. If you land early and want to use the afternoon, tell us in advance and we can add a short Islamic Cairo walk or an evening at Khan el-Khalili.

Overnight: Cairo

Meals: None

Day 2Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum, evening flight to Hurghada

Your guide collects you after breakfast for the full Giza plateau. You will stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the only one of the classical Seven Wonders still standing, then move on to the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and the panoramic point where all three line up. The Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple of Khafre close the morning.

After lunch, the Grand Egyptian Museum, ten minutes down the road. The Grand Staircase carries you past monumental royal statuary toward a window framing the pyramids themselves, and the Tutankhamun galleries hold the complete tomb assemblage displayed together for the first time — more than five thousand objects, from the gold mask to the chariots and the folded linen.

Late afternoon your driver takes you to the domestic terminal for the flight to Hurghada, roughly an hour in the air. A representative meets you at Hurghada airport and transfers you to your Red Sea resort.

Overnight: Hurghada

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner

Note: luggage goes with you. There is no return to the Cairo hotel after the museum, so check out in the morning.

Day 3Hurghada at leisure, New Year's Eve gala dinner

No alarm, no guide, no schedule. Breakfast at the resort and the day is yours for the beach, the pool or the house reef.

If you would rather be on the water, we can book a snorkelling boat to Giftun Island or Orange Bay, both roughly forty-five minutes out, where the visibility in winter is usually excellent. A quad or jeep run into the Eastern Desert is the alternative for anyone who has had enough of saltwater.

In the evening, the New Year’s Eve gala dinner at your resort — a set festive menu with entertainment, included in your package.

Overnight: Hurghada

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner (all-inclusive)

Day 4Hurghada, New Year's Day

A slow start is the point. Most guests spend the morning recovering by the pool.

For the afternoon or the full day, the options are open: a submarine or glass-bottom boat if you want the reef without getting wet, a diving session if you are certified, or a long day trip to Luxor by road for the Valley of the Kings and Karnak. The Luxor run is around four hours each way, so it is a genuine commitment — worth it, but tell us at booking rather than on the day.

Overnight: Hurghada

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner (all-inclusive)

Day 5Fly to Cairo, departure

Breakfast, then a transfer to Hurghada airport for the flight back to Cairo. On arrival our representative meets you at the domestic terminal and moves you to international departures for your onward flight.

If your international flight is late in the day, ask us about a day-use room or a half-day Saqqara and Memphis add-on to fill the gap.

Meals: Breakfast

FAQs

Is the New Year's Eve gala dinner included in the price?

Yes. The gala dinner at your Hurghada resort on the thirty-first is included in every tier we quote. We never add it as a compulsory supplement after booking, which is common practice elsewhere in Egypt over the festive period.

Are the domestic flights included?

Yes. Cairo to Hurghada and Hurghada back to Cairo are both included, with airport taxes. The flight takes about an hour each way.

Is this a private tour?

Yes. Every tour we run under seven days is private — your own Egyptologist guide, your own driver and your own vehicle for the Cairo sightseeing day, with no other travellers joining. The Hurghada portion is unguided by design, so your time there is entirely your own.

Can you actually swim in the Red Sea over New Year?

Yes. Hurghada sits at around 21 to 23°C in the daytime through late December and early January, and the sea holds near 22°C. It is comfortable for swimming and snorkelling, though it cools off quickly after sunset, so pack a layer for the evenings.

Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Most nationalities can buy a visa on arrival at Cairo airport for 30 USD, payable in cash. Our representative meets you inside the arrivals hall and handles the process with you. Check your own nationality’s requirements before you travel, since a few passports need an e-visa arranged in advance.

Can I visit Luxor from Hurghada?

Yes, as an optional day trip on day 4. It is roughly four hours by road each way, covering the Valley of the Kings, the Colossi of Memnon and Karnak. It makes for a long day, so we ask you to book it at the time of reservation rather than on arrival.

How much of Cairo do we actually see?

One full private day covering the Giza plateau, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum. That is the headline of Cairo but not the whole city — if you want Saqqara, Memphis or Islamic Cairo as well, we would suggest adding a night at the front of the trip rather than compressing the existing day.

What happens to my luggage on day 2?

You check out of the Cairo hotel in the morning and your luggage travels with you for the sightseeing day, stored in your private vehicle. You do not return to the Cairo hotel before the evening flight.
