Itinerary

Day 1Philae Temple, High Dam and Unfinished Obelisk

Arrival at Aswan Airport/Railway. Meet Egypt Best Vacations tour guide to commence your 4 day tour of Aswan highlights. Visit the High Dam, which is regarded as one of the most significant engineering feats of the twentieth century. Aswan High Dam was built to save water and protect Egypt from the Nile’s high and low floods. Then proceed to the wonderful Temple of Philae. Philae Temple or the temple of Isis at Philae Island in Aswan is one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt. It is known as the “Pearl of Egypt”. The temple is located on an island, so it requires a short boat ride.

End your tour at the granite quarry of the Unfinished Obelisk. Transfer to your hotel for your first night of your Aswan highlights in 4 days.

Day 2Abu Simbel Temples

Travel to the phenomenal temples of Abu Simbel. So, you will take a transfer (about 3.5 hours) with your tour guide to these phenomenal temples. The temples of Abu Simbel are considered among the most celebrated achievements of ancient Egypt. The two temples were cut in the cliffs about 310 Km south of Aswan. The Great Temple was built for Ramses II (1279-1213 BC), while the Small Temple was built for his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari.

Because of the rising water of Aswan High Dam, the temples had to be saved and rescued in a magnificent world rescue operation of temples in Lower Nubia. Transfer back to your hotel in Aswan.

Day 3Kom Ombo & Edfu Temples

Today you will visit the twin Temple of Horus and Sobek and the Crocodile Museum at Kom Ombo. The temple is dedicated to the two triads of Horus and Sobek. The right part of the temple is dedicated to Sobek (Crocodile deity), his consort Hathor and their son Khonsu.  The left part of the temple is dedicated to Horus the Elder (Heru-ur or Haroeris), his consort Tasenetnofret (“the good sister”), and their son Panebtawy (the Lord of the Two Lands).

Then proceed to the most intact temple in Egypt, the Temple of Horus in Edfu. The Temple of Horus in Edfu is the most intact temple in Egypt and one of the most beautiful temples built during the Greco-Roman period. Edfu Temple is fully inscribed with reliefs and hieroglyphs on its exterior and interior walls.
Transfer back to Aswan for final night of your Aswan highlights in 4 days tour.

Day 4End of your Aswan highlights in 4 days tour

Discover some of the hidden gems of Aswan as the beautiful Island of Sehel and the historical Island of Elephantine. Sehel Island is one of the largest islands on the Nile, located upstream from the First Cataract in Aswan region. It contained a quarry for the mining of granite, the hardest stone used in ancient Egypt. The island contains hundreds of inscriptions and royal cartouches, immortalizing countless officials and kings. Many of these inscriptions can be seen on the large granite boulders surrounding the island.

While Elephantine Island’s southern end comprises the site of ancient Abu. Its name meant both ‘elephant’ and ‘ivory’ in ancient Egyptian, a reminder of the important role the island once played in the ivory trade.
Conclude your Aswan highlights in 4 days itinerary with a transfer to Aswan Airport/railway.
