Because of the rising water of Aswan High Dam, the temples had to be saved and rescued in a magnificent world rescue operation of temples in Lower Nubia. • Winter (Nov-Feb): Layers! Days are mild (20-25°C/68-77°F), but mornings/evenings are cool (can drop to 10°C/50°F). Pack a light jacket/sweater.

  • Summer (Jun-Aug): Light, breathable, modest clothing (cotton, linen), a wide-brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. A scarf is essential for sun protection.
