Itinerary
3 Nights Nile River Cruise From South Africa

Day 1 Arrive in Aswan - Aswan Tour

Touch down in Aswan, gateway to ancient wonders, and embark on a 3 nights Nile cruise from South Africa. Your 4 days Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor awaits, ready to whisk you away on a journey through millennia. Meet your guide, your key to unlocking the secrets of pharaohs and gods.

Explore the highlights of the beautiful City of Aswan. Visit the High Dam, a great engineering feat of 1960s, to generate electricity and to stop floods. Then proceed to the beautiful Temple of Philae. This temple was built during the Greco-Roman era and dedicated to Isis, goddess of Magic and Love in ancient Egypt. End your tour at the granite quarry of the Unfinished Obelisk.

Transfer to your Nile River cruise ship. Free evening, you can discover the city of Aswan.

Optional tour: Nubian Village in Aswan

Day 2Aswan - Kom Ombo - Edfu

Enjoy a free morning or join us on an optional tour to the phenomenal temples of Abu Simbel.

Your River Nile cruise ship will set sail to Kom Ombo around the lunchtime. Disembark at Kom Ombo to visit the twin Temple of gods Horus, and Sobek. The temple was built over the ruined temple of the New Kingdom. The temple began during the time of Ptolemy V and was completed by the time of Emperor Tiberius. The emperors Domitian, Caracalla, and others added to the temple. So it took about 400 years to finish.

Enjoy a short visit to the Crocodile Museum before you go back to your Nile cruise ship to set sail to Edfu. Overnight in Edfu.

Day 3Edfu - Esna - Luxor

Before/after breakfast, you will take a Horse and Carriage to visit the most intact temple in Egypt, the Temple of Horus in Edfu. The temple is very intact, none of its elements are missing but the Sacred Lake and two obelisks. The Sacred Lake was on the east side of the temple but now vanished under the city’s modern houses. The two obelisks were located in front of the main gate of the temple. The Temple of Edfu is fully inscribed with reliefs and hieroglyphs on its exterior and interior walls.

Take your carriage back to your Nile River cruise ship to set sail to Luxor via the Lock of Esna. Upon arrival in Luxor, you will visit the impressive Temple of Karnak and the majestic Temple of Luxor. Both temples were dedicated to the Theban Triad; Amun, Mut and Khonsu.

Return back to your cruise ship to savor the final evening of your 3 nights Nile cruise from South Africa.

Day 4End of your 3 nights Nile cruise from South Africa

Disembarkation. Visit the magnificent Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried. There are 65 tombs there, and your guide will recommend the best three are open to visit. From the Valley of the Kings to the unique Temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut, who ruled Egypt for about 20 years as a sole pharaoh. You will end your tour with a photo stop at the giant Colossi of Memnon of Amenhotep III.

Wrap up your 3 nights Nile cruise from South Africa with a transfer to Luxor Airport or Luxor Railway or Luxor hotels.
