Your first stop will be at the Mortuary Temple of Seti I. The Mortuary Temple of Seti I was built during the 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom and served as a funerary complex dedicated to the pharaoh Seti I. The temple was constructed to house the pharaoh’s cult and to ensure his successful journey into the afterlife. It features impressive architectural elements, including intricate carvings and reliefs depicting religious scenes and the pharaoh’s military conquests. Despite being partially destroyed over the centuries, the Mortuary Temple of Seti I remains a significant archaeological site, providing valuable insights into ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and artistic achievements.

From the Mortuary Temple of Seti I to the Mortuary Temple of Merenptah. This temple was badly damaged and recently restored by the Swiss Institute of Archaeology with collaboration of Supreme Council of Egyptian Antiquities. This monument was built in several phases which, starting from a simple initial plan, reorganised, then innovative structures added.
